What it is

Sports massage considers the context of your training. Before the session we discuss load, how you feel and any upcoming events.

Who it suits

For post-training overload, familiar muscle stiffness, returning to activity or recovering between sessions.

How it works

What you have trained, where you feel the load and when you train next. This helps us choose the areas, pace and intensity. You can ask us to adjust the pressure at any time.

Safety

With a recent injury, marked swelling, fever or acute pain, seek medical assessment first. A sudden loss of movement after injury, especially with weakness or swelling, needs medical assessment first.

Before or after training

Before an event, work is usually shorter and more dynamic, without trying to create heaviness. After normal training load, the pace can be calmer. Massage may reduce perceived DOMS for some people, but it does not repair tissue or replace sleep, nutrition and sensible programming.

Deep does not mean maximum pain.

Padel, running and cycling: preparing for your session

If you play padel, tell us when you last played, how long the match lasted and whether you have another planned. Explain which areas you would like us to work on; you do not need to know the name of every muscle.

If you run or cycle, describe your recent outings and when you plan to train again. For gym training, mention what you worked on. This conversation helps us agree on the focus, pressure and time for your session.

Recovery and comfortable movement

DOMS means delayed-onset muscle soreness after exercise. ROM means range of motion: how far you can move a joint. Research suggests massage can offer modest improvements in post-exercise soreness and flexibility, but it is not a proven shortcut to greater strength or faster race times.

Sports or relaxing massage?

Sports massage starts with your training context and the areas you want to focus on. Relaxing massage prioritises an unhurried experience and switching off. Neither needs to be painful, and the pressure is agreed with you.

When you can skip it

Massage is optional. If you feel comfortable, move normally and recover well, there is no need to book just because you trained. It does not replace sleep, food, a sensible training plan or rehabilitation when needed.

Questions before booking

Can I book after padel or the gym?

Yes, for familiar muscular tightness after an ordinary training session. Tell us about your recent load and next session. New sharp pain, marked swelling or an injury should be assessed first.

Will massage remove DOMS?

Some people experience less soreness, but the effect varies. Feeling better does not prove that muscle strength or tissue recovery is complete.

Can massage improve ROM?

It may help you move more comfortably and can modestly improve flexibility. It does not guarantee a lasting change in joint range; ongoing movement and appropriate exercise remain important.

Which session length should I choose?

55 minutes for one main goal or related areas; 85 for more comprehensive work across several areas; 115 for more detailed work with flexible time for each area. Prices: €70, €110 and €150.

Where does the session take place?

At Alex Massage Barcelona, inside Espai Roure, Carrer de Pere IV, 91, Poblenou. Book online before coming.
